Hanging Gardens

After this week's post on indoor/outdoor spaces, this is a little extension with a bit more intention. We love the idea of these hanging or suspended plants. Individual arrangements or single botanicals create a garden that is both dramatic and simply stated. We love that many of these interpretations are inverted!
Creating an upside down herb garden is perfect for adding some greenery to your kitchen without cluttering your precious counter space; we love these pots by Rockett St George

Check out String Gardens for some really inspiring and amazing creations including suspended florals, orchids, and even tress.

For an added pop of color, these neon string moss balls  by mister moss are low maintenance and unexpected.

Creating your own hanging garden can be as simple as potting some indoor plants into well chosen handmade vessels like the one here. We also love the look of these vintage lab beakers that could be mixed with various bud vases and other hanging glass vessels for a wild and loose collection of plants.

indoors. outdoors.

outdoor brick courtyard, courtyard view, verdant bathroom unknown, atrium, basket swing, outdoor shower, windowsill garden

Some of us live in small spaces and extending our living quarters into the outdoors can be a welcome change, especially in the summer months. For those of us who don't have access to green space, bringing a little nature indoors can also help liven a home... here are some of our favorite spaces that blend indoors and outdoors with a little bit of imagination and a lot of grace...

Packaging!

We love to give a gift that's as special as the recipient. For us gift giving is a part of storytelling, a way to say thank you or we've selected something especially for you, its a way to show appreciating or to cheer someone up. One of our favorite parts of the gift giving process is the packaging... a great gift starts when a beautifully packaged object is placed in the hands of the one it is meant for. Here are some of our favorite ideas for creating a beautifully packaged gift.

love the eco friendly and sophisticated look of these fabric wraps from Chewing the Cud

love the clean and simple packaging from thinkgarnish.com

and for some fun and inexensive packaging pick me ups... check out our favorites from etsy!

Spaces for Little Ones

We spend a lot of time looking at images, designing spaces and pinning pictures of rooms for inspiration.
We love spaces of all kinds, but stumbling upon a perfectly imaginative room for a child always offers and unexpected breath of fresh (design) air. Here are some of our favorite recent finds...

Love the idea of painted imagery with the addition of 3D objects like this tree and birdhouse wall decor. Create a sweet and meandering display using cupcake liners and colored thumbtacks (as seen on apartment therapy). We love this crescent moon cradle from the Creme Anglaise line on Cargo Collective. Create a little vignette in a girl's room like this one above a day bed (from mycakies). How adorable is this toddler bedding and star wand by Colette Bream?????

Ok, so maybe we love good design for little ones because we all wish we had a safe, cozy and inspired space to curl up in a read a good book!

Blooming Branches

We've had a couple of sunny days here and with the sunshine a true sense of Spring has arrived. Blooming branches are everywhere, and there is no better way to bring an sense of Spring indoors than with a bunch of tall branches bursting with fluffy blossoms. From cherry, to plum, apricot and even dogwood, stems abundant with delicate blooms are available for the gathering. Whats even better than the look of these seasonal wonders is the ease of putting them into an arrangement. Simply place a large bunch in a galvanized bucket, a beautiful clear glass vase, even use the small scraps in a mason jar or old bottle for a quick window sill arrangement. These delicate beauties will lighten up your space and bring Spring into your home!

Cozy Up

Somewhere between rain and sunshine we've had moments this week of bright mornings and grey afternoons. Scarves and heavy coats are layered on, only to be stripped off during the walk home in the new hour of light we've acquired in the last few weeks. Cold nights like these remind us to cozy up with a good book, a loved one, a furry friend, and perhaps a favorite tv show or movie. We love a warm cup of tea, a plate of comfort food and a good magazine. What are some of the things you love to do at home on a chilly night???

Hot

Keeping it HOT this winter with pops of neon against peaches, coral, tans and neutrals... and don't forget a bit of sparkle. Love neon with a flash of gold.

First Kiss

Do you remember your first kiss? The feeling of butterflies in your stomach, then the rise of your pulse and the sudden plummet as you're swept up into someone's arms... the anticipation of your lips touching, then the soft and tender kiss that follows. The feeling of a first kiss is something that is unique in its wonder. We think that when a bride sees her wedding, she should experience something akin to the feeling she gets when she first kissed her husband to be... the nervousness in anticipation, the thrill of the adventure and glimpse of all the possibilities the future holds...
